B'day Card Keepsake Journal

I'm finally back home from Charleston, SC, after celebrating my "30 Fine & Fabulous" Birthday.  What a beautiful, small town.  I enjoyed every moment we were there. We stayed in Downtown Charleston, so we were able to walk everywhere.  It was oh so beautiful and just simply breathtaking.  I would love to move there.  But, since I'm not, I decided to create this fun little, b'day card journal.  I really enjoy creating wire bound journals/notebooks with my Cinch, so I said to myself what better way to keep all of my pretty cards in tact.  Here's a sneak peek...

So here's what i used to create and bind my b'day card journal:  the Cinch, 3/4" o-wire and my wire cutters.

Oh!  I almost forgot!  He went to Jared.  LoL.

Now, let's get to the business of the journal.  I won't overwhelm you w/ every b'day card I received, but here's a quick snippet of a few.  Enjoy!

Read more about Thirty-fine & Fabulous here.

Thirty-fiNe & Fabulous

Thirty-five is the new....Well, I don't know what its new for, but it's definitely new for me (especially since I act more like a 26 year old).  Therefore I've decided that on this birthday I will be celebrating Thirty-fiNe years of life.  I like to think that I get better with age (kinda like a good wine).  So, I realized that thirty-five has to be fabulous for me, so this year's birthday theme is "Thirty-fiNe & Fabulous".  Mr. Paper-Crafts Chick has something up his sleeve (I know he does).  He always does.  I only have one of the details so far:  we're going to Charleston, SC.  Yipppppeeeee, I'm so excited about this one.  Check out my birthday inspired typography graphic below.  I had so much fun coming up with this little square.  Normally, I do a smash book each year, but this year I needed something a bit more fabulous to represent and stay in-line with the theme:  Thirty-fiNe & Fabulous.

I decided to add a quatrefoil pattern to the design...

I will definitely follow-up this post with the details after the big day comes and goes.  But, until then I'll be Thirty-fiNe in Charleston, SC this year.  Cheers to me!

What Would You Do Every Day...?

I use my imagination to take me to a faraway place every now & then; especially when time and circumstances don’t allow me to literally get away.  And often times I play, what I call, the “what-if” game – just to kinda dream a little and plan ahead.  So, I was wondering…

So, what keeps you from realizing and reaching your daily goals and big dreams?  Is it the distractions of television, fun gadgets like your ipad; maybe it’s your putting everyone before yourself; could it be work or worry, could it even be…you?

We all have “something” that’s standing in the way of us reaching that next step to reaching our dreams, joy and happiness. Can your “something” be demolished, done away with, powered off or deleted all together…

What would you do every day if you could?

Lemonade Blessings – Working With What You Have

They say when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade.  In other words use those sour lemons to make something that’s sweet, thirst quenching and yummy.  Let’s turn that statement around and apply it to you (and me, too).  Use life’s ugly, mean, sour situations to produce a result that is beautiful, sweet and fruitful.  We have got to work with what we’ve got.  So, my question to you is – what are you working with and how can you transform it into something positive and useful?  Are you working with a bad job, little money, much debt.  No matter how bad it is, I'll bet it can some how, some way be changed into something better.  Where there's a will there's a way.  Don’t forget about the lesson learned and the life you experience during the event.  Remember, every “bad” situation is an opportunity to learn, grow and be strengthened.  What did you learn?  Did you grow spiritually?  Has your relationship with God been strengthened by all of this?  I know it will be tested.  Now, let’s get back to the original title above – Lemonade Blessings - Working with What You Have.  What do you have and are you really using it to your advantage and working with it to arrive at a better outcome?  I call that outcome a lemonade blessing – at first you begin the journey, task, day, life or project with lemons, but then you realize once you make a few minor adjustments (still working with those sour lemons) that you can transform the very thing you’re working with; from something you dislike or even despise to something you actually like; from something you think you'll never, ever, ever accomplish to a "been there, done that" cheer.  Here’s my new outlook:
Use what you’ve got to get what you want.

My Digital Chalkboard

I'm like a kid in a candy store right now.  I've found something that I believe is so cool.  I keep running across re-purposed chalkboards, painted chalkboards, chalkboard to-do-list and other chalkboard stuff.  Yes, stuff.  So, I finally found a chalkboard background and I'm using it to create my own digital chalkboard - a chalkboard on-screen to do as you please:  Create cards, notes, scrapbook pages, fun printables.  The list is endless.  Here's my first little fun-time/playtime with the chalkboard.  Fun, fun, fun!  Can I quit my day job and just do crafts all day?

I'll definitely create quite a few craft projects with this handy little tool.  I used Gimp to create my image.  You can use Photoshop and Picasa, too.

Here's the link to the chalkboard background if you'd like to play around too.  It's a free download that's available in black, green and blue.

"Sign Language"

These days there is a sign posted for everything; from “no smoking”, to “one-way” and stop signs.  I, however, am a fan of the more expressive signs – signs that convey a positive and encouraging message to the reader.  I really like the re-purposed signs that are painted on wooden boxes.   Take a look at the “sign language” I’ve run across in my recent travels here and there…

Had an eye exam today and this encouraging eye exam sign was displayed on the wall.  It reads - Always look on the bright side of life...very, very encouraging!

I saw this little lovely while shopping and traveling in Missouri.  I had to take a snapshot and share with you for encouragement, too.

I ran across this printable on the Makoodle website a few months ago.  Now, it’s my screensaver on my Nook.  I need encouragement at every turn of the day.

My hubby sent this one to me and I agree - your dreams ought to be so big and massive that they blow you away.

Not only am I an Alabama fan, but I'm also an alumnus from the awesome Univ. of Alabama.  ROLL TIDE!   Enough said.

Friday is my most favorite day of the week.  I look forward to it beginning on Sunday evening.

I saw this one while I was out doing my favorite thing...SHOPPING!  But, who doesn't want to be successful.  It takes a lot of everything listed in the above pic to be the successful person you want to be.

I bought this as a gift for my super-hubby.  He loves to cook and he's an awesome grill-master, too.  I’m his chief executive taste-tester.

A good friend shared this one with me; basic instructions for prayer.

Fortune cookies are so yummy to me.  Well, these were tucked inside of my cookies...

This is the sign that I place on my table when I do a craft show - where I sell my soy candles.  You should check them out.   www.TshccBoutique.com

Wednesday Weigh-In Worksheet

Soooo, now that I've lost the weight there's no need to weigh myself everyday.  However, I do want to monitor my weight and make sure that I remain on course.  So, I've decided to have a weekly Wednesday weigh-in.  Here's a cute little worksheet that I created in order to log my weekly weight.  I have given myself a 3 lb. target range to do any possible flucuating; that way I won't lose my sanity if I gain a pound or 2 (Can you say Super Bowl party food!?!).  Here ya go...

Feel free to download, print and share

Here's how I lost it:
Initially, I began eating much less and stopped snacking so much. Then, I downloaded the "Lose It" app and that helped me set a weight goal, track my meals/calories as well as the weight I was losing.

As always, check with your doctor or health care professional before beginning any weight-loss program.

BHAG - Big Harry Audacious Goals

A Big Hairy Audacious Goal is a statement which is created to focus on a goal which is audacious.

The term 'Big Hairy Audacious Goal' (BHAG) was proposed by James Collins and Jerry Porras in their 1994 book entitled Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies.  Collins and Porras define a BHAG (pronounced BEE-hag) as "...an audacious goal to progress towards an envisioned future."  "A true BHAG is clear and compelling, with a clear finish line, so you know when it is achieved; people like to shoot for finish lines."
—Collins and Porras, Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies. (Wikipedia info)

2013 Crafts Vision Book

2013 craft projects, ideas, inspiration and plans...all captured in my 2013 Crafts Vision Book.

We were featured too:
Crafty Confessions
Keep reading to find out about our feature at Crafty Confessions

Here's how the idea came about:
One of my good friends did a vision board during the holidays with all of her goals, plans and vision for 2013. She cut pics and words from various magazines that represented her vision and taped them to a board - one that could be put in plain view (whether on a decorative easel or hanging on the wall). So, my wheels began turning and I had a light bulb moment. Hmmmm. Why not do a vision book for my blog and other craft projects for 2013? So, I stopped by my favorite toy store, Archiver's, and got one of the SN@P binders. I also got SN@P's pre-punched paper for journaling, jotting and keeping up with everything that I pop in the vision book. My paper pack included picture pocket inserts as well as stickers and tabs for my book. I even kept it in line with my friend's vision board and grabbed a few pages from magazines and inserted in my 2013 Crafts Vision Book. So, take a peek at how I dressed it up and check out some of the first inserts: new craft room plans.
