To "Done" List - Memo Pad

I hate having a to do list. It stresses me out, gives me anxiety and adds to much pressure to my day. Whenever I have something to do I try and get it done ASAP; no procrastination over here. This is the motivation behind my latest little creation: The to "done" list. Yes, you read correctly - the to "done" list. Check it out below.

I'll be using this happy, little memo pad to create my list of things to do and quickly mark them off to officially create my to "done" list. I made it at a handy size, 4.5" x 7", that fits my desk or even a pocket in my purse. This is going to help me prioritize and keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be done. Hmmmm, this is a nice gift idea, too. Got anybody in mind?

At the end of the day it will feel so good to have done so much and gotten so many things accomplished. And I'll have my handy little to "done" list to look back on and reflect and say "DONE!".

"Daisy" Notepads

Wow! Excited! Yes, I am. Remember my post on the 1st about the new shop, Gabriella Daisy? I mentioned that it was my challenge for the year. Well guess what...things are going well. Happy New Year everyone! I hope you're expecting great things in this new year. Remember, anything is possible and the possibilities are endless and we all get to start the new year with a clean slate. And guess what...I'm starting off with something new. New Year = New, Pretty, Paper Goods = New Shop to sell them all. I'd like to introduce you to my new Etsy shop, Gabriella Daisy; here you'll be able to purchase pretty, paper goods that make you smile. So, who is Gabriella Daisy? Well, she's my crafty, alter-ego that I created. "Gabriella" represents my pant suit, high-heel wearing, sophisticated style, while "Daisy" shows off my crafty, whimsical, paper-loving side. Gabriella Daisy is simply a display of who I am - fun, sophisticated and crafty.

Christmas Favor Boxes (featured @ So Creative blog)

It's the holiday season and I was thinking...hmmmm.... What kind of crafty gift can I create and give to a few friends? Here's what I came up with...

Christmas Favor Boxes

Each one is full of "bite size" candy and the perfect treat for all of the people that I see regularly. I also created a little tag, used my single hole punch to punch a hole and tied it on with curly ribbon (so they'd know it was from little ol' me). I handed these out today and they were a big hit. Everyone loved my little candy boxes. These can also be used as party favors or even hang them on the Christmas tree as ornaments, better yet, drop them in Christmas stockings. When Valentine's day rolls around stuff them with sweet sayings (or more candy) for your hubby or loved ones.

This is my first batch of Christmas favor boxes. I'm planning to make more for the family. I'll hand them out on Christmas Day along with their other gifts...can't wait to see eveyone's smiling faces.

My "not so black" Friday

Happy day after Thanksgiving everyone! I'm grateful for many, many things this season. I've been sooo busy over the past couple of months, so I'm really, really grateful for R & R: my own few days of rest and relaxation. So here's how I'm spending my "not so black" Friday. I'm Nook-ing it. I've downloaded a few books, so I'm locked and loaded...on the couch that is and ready to rest and relax.

Mr. Paper-Crafts Chick and I had Thanksgiving dinner out at a nice restaurant last night, so we'll be digging in to all of the leftovers. Yummmmmm!

I've never been into the Black Friday crowds and the outrageous lining up outside of stores (some 6-12 hours before they open). I love to shop and bring home new things, but not at the expense of my rest & relaxation.

So, after my R & R on the couch w/ my Nook and eating leftovers, I plan to make a cute little journal (CAN'T WAIT!). I'm using the new cute, hot pink, spiral wire from The Cinch to create my journal.

On a "Positive Note"

A couple of years ago my super-hubby bought me "The Cinch" and I've been using it to make crafty little projects...mainly my "Positive Notes" journals. Let me introduce you to my "Positive Notes"...

Everyone needs encouragement, a "pick me up", a little inspiration, a push, a little something everyone now and again to remind us that we have a reason to keep trying, keep perservering, keep pressing on and just keep on keeping on. Well, God (yes, God Almighty), has a book (the bible) that gives us just that: reasons to "not grow weary in well doing for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9). He gave me the idea of "Positive Notes" a couple of years ago and I've been using them to uplift, inspire, encourage and remind us of God's power, strength and His abilities every since(He's MOST capable, by the way).

So, let me encourage you today with some of my favorite "Positive Notes"...

"A reminder from God: I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for". (Jeremiah 29:11 msg)

This isn't the entire project...only a snippett of the whole thing. Stay tuned for the completed project. You're going to love it.

Chick-a-dee on Canvas

So, what did you do this weekend?

My weekend was all about the girls, chicks, the women. It was a true girls' weekend. I invited one of my favorite chicks from my home town to hangout with me and here's the result of one of our fun activities.

My very own "chick painting"

Has anyone been to one of their local paint studious where they show you how to paint? Well, we went for the first time this weekend - to the paint studio, laughed at each others paintings, listened to old school music, ate good food and were merry. We painted free hand and I'm no artist...drawing is not my calling, but it sure was a lot of fun. What a ball we had! Then, at church was our annual women's day program...all about celebrating the women, praising God, drawing closer to Him and learning more about His love for us. It was an awesome weekend...about the girls, chicks and the women. I hope you had a weekend as awsome as ours! :o)

Who Do You Wanna Be?

By day I'm the meeting facilitating, number crunching, report building, work delegating, Christ-like demonstrating, corporate woman. At night, I switch roles: I remove the corporate hat and put on my crafting cape then I transform into the Paper-Crafts Chick. She's my favorite super hero! She's the one that creates all of the fun "little bitty" Positive Notes notepads and even hand-pours the "Sweet News" candles with her own designed labels. She's awesome, I'm awesome! She is ME! I truly love what I do and I love who I am (by day and by night). I believe my paper-crafting is certainly a fun outlet and it's also a sweet gift from God, because His word inspires all of my creations. I enjoy being me simply because "I am fearfully and wonderfully made...I know that full well" (Psalm 139:14).

So, who do you wanna be?

Be yourself.

So, how do you just be yourself? First, find out who you really are. You're more than a wife, mom, office worker. You're more than that. There's a creative gift that resides inside of you. You may not be a crafter (that's fine), however, there is creativity in you. Just be you...yourself. Be yourself.

Sweet and New Scripture Candles

Hallelujah! It is finished! And I'm all smiles! :o)
I've re-designed the scripture candles, printed the new labels and they're selling like (not hotcakes)... more like birthday cakes. I introduced the newly designed label at my latest craft show and got a really, positive response from the customers. Everyone loved the ministry of the candles and I've even added 2 new scents: Sunny Days and Sweet Life - both very popular now. Yes, I'm still using all-natural soy wax.

These are my sweet and new scripture candles or should I say "Sweet News" Candles? They contain sweet news from the Word of God. News so sweet that it encourages, uplifts, inspires, comforts and draws you closer to God. Each candle contains bible scriptures and a short inspirational story that explains the "Sweet News", so that we have a better understanding of how to apply God's divine instructions in our daily journey. They're "...sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb" (Psalm 19:10).

Birthday Smash Book

It's here, its here! Finally, my very own Smash Folio has arrived. As promised I smashed it full of my recent birthday memories. Take a peek at a few of the pages included.

I added a few pearl-flower embellishments as well as one
of my birthday cards to the front on the Smash book.

We went on a zip-line tour. All I can say is WHAT A FUN ADVENTURE!

I got the new Nook Simple Touch Reader. I was able to purchase BEFORE
they were available for sale to the public. It's my birthday, what did you think?

We had apps, dinner and dessert at the elegant Canoe restaurant. Delicious!

The menu is so long, so I scored it and made it a fold out.

I had a few extras to add to the pocket, including my monkey sticker.

Gotta preserve my memories and my Smash book, so I'm
storing it in the plastic cover that accompanied the book.

My Smash Book...

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. The Smash Book has been sold out in my area for almost 2 months and I've not been able to find it online either! What is the world coming to? Well, after searching and searching and searching 1 more time, I finally found the smash book (there were only 3 left at the time of my purchase).

My super, good, exciting news: My Smash arrives today!!! Yaaaaay! I am super thrilled. I'll be watching the mailbox today like a little kid. I already have the contents, too. You see, I celebrated my b'day recently, so I have everything to document my special day (programs, gift cards - w/ $0 balance, greeting cards, pics, etc.) Come on mailman (or lady). I need to get busy "smashing". Stay tuned. I plan to post pics of the finished product. Yippppeee!

The Scent of Heaven Candle Co. has a new candle scent, Sunny Days, and I'm so excited!!! Framed 3-D Poem

Great News: Here's another fun project by yours truly and I've also been featured on "Friendly Friday" (details on the feature are toward the end of this post). In the words of the Pointer Sisters, "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it".

I was asked to prepare this poem as a gift for a recent graduate. My instructions were to print it on male-inspired, designer paper and place it in a frame. Well, you know my mind got busy with the design, frame and everything. Then, God began to show me how to set it all up (remember I always craft with my Rock, Scissors, Paper). Check out the finished product - framed 3-D poem.

I printed the poem on 1 page, then printed selected words from the poem on a second sheet. I cut out the selected words from the second sheet and applied them to the first page using thick double-sided tape (you can also substitue pop-dots to get the raised image). I luv the way this looks.

In addition to completing this fun project, I recently found out that I'd be featured on "Friendly Friday". How Exciting!!! This was such a sweet surprise that made my great day a spectacular one!

Pomander Flower Ball

I thought these were the cutest flower balls. Making the first one was so much fun and easy that I decided to make a second one. Wanna try it out? Ok, here's what you'll need:

12 x 12 Cardstock. I chose a shimmery, linen patterened cardstock
Pearl tipped corsage pens
White styrofoam ball
Flower paper punch

Punch several flower petal shapes from the 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock.

Layer the petals then curl the edges of the top flower. This gives the flower a bit of dimension.

Next, attach the flower petals to the styrofoam ball with the corsage pins. I chose to go around the entire ball and make a complete circle. Repeat until the entire ball is covered.

Voila! Pomander Flower Ball!

...a fun and easy little project - cute enough to decorate for a dinner party or any party. Enjoy! :o)

Rock, Scissors, Paper...for my paper-crafts

Tools for my kind of paper-crafting

What tools are you using when you're crafting? I use a wide assortment of tools when creating my greeting cards, small notepads, journals and other paper concepts. However, there are 3 that are always at the top of my list: rock, scissors, paper. Let me explain…

1. Rock – I use my Rock right before I start a project. :o) It helps me to gather my thoughts and present them as pretty, paper products to you. My Rock provides me with the perfect words (or should I say scriptures?) to use in each project. My Rock… is powerful. My Rock… is solid. My Rock… is Christ, the solid Rock. And I choose to stand on the Rock with each project.

2. Scissors – I like to achieve perfect edges and straight lines just as much as any other crafter, so I keep my scissors, paper trimmer and Exacto knife on hand. I’m not so goood at cutting free hand, so if I’m using scissors or my Exacto knife, then there needs to be a line for me to follow. My favorite of all is the paper trimmer. Yes! I have a super-duper, heavy duty cutter. I use it to cut any and everything that I’d like to see with perfectly matched edges. I strive for perfection, but unlike my Rock, neither I nor my paper are completely perfect. However, I can work to cut out all of the imperfections (in my crafts and in me)

3. Paper – Of course, there would be no “Paper-Crafts Chick” or paper-crafts without all the designer paper, stationery, cardstock, glitter-glimmer paper, glossy paper and regular old 8 ½ x 11 white sheets. I appreciate all styles of paper: pretty paper, little paper, colored paper, patterned paper, embossed paper, kraft paper, 20lb. paper, my paper, your paper, free paper, vellum paper, parchment paper, even wax paper (do I really need to continue on?). I simply love paper. Most of all I love the crafts created with the paper. It allows me the chance to transform ordinary cardstock into marvelous new products, such as my "little bitty" Positive Notes and "little puffy" Positive Notes".

A Love Letter...From God

April is "National Card and Letter Writing" month and I've managed to create a cute, little card that actually contains a sweet letter, but not just any letter - it's a love letter. This is one of my most popular cards and it's from my "Sweet Nothings" collection. It's a "Love Letter From God"; full of promises and encouragement straight from the scriptures in the bible. I chose several bible verses and connected them in such a way that creates a "Love Letter From God".

Spring Cleaning is Here!

Spring cleaning is here! That means it is time to clean up the blog...out with the old and in with the new. I finally got a new blog design (yipppeeeee!) and this one has a Spring-like feel. I've been wanting to do this for some time now, but I could never find anything that I really, really liked. Well, I think I've hit the jackpot with my new blog design. I hope you like it just as much as I do. Let me know what ya think of the new design vs. the old. :o)

I actually like the old one. It is my favorite of all the Blogger templates. But "To every thing there is a season..." (Ecclesiastes 3:1 kjv). And the season for this design has come and gone. All "Puffed" Up & Ready for Spring!

I'm all "puffed" up and ready for Spring. I found the new felt Puffies at one of my favorite toy stores. Ok, ok, ok, so it's a craft store, but whenever I visit I feel like its my own little craft-toy store. Ok...So, I saw the Puffies at the toy store and had to bring them home immediately to create something. I love the bright, pastel colors. They're just in time for Spring...light colors, sunny days and warmer temperatures. CAN'T WAIT :o) So, here's what I came up with...

"Litte Puffy Positive Notes"

I'm preparing for a list of crafts shows for the season and I'm taking my latest little creation with me. Some of you may remember the "Little Bitty Positive Notes" that debuted last season. Well, make way for the "Little Puffy Positive Notes"!!! Check out the Puffy embellishments I added. These cute, little notepads include a sticky pad along with a pen for writing. The best part is the "Positive Note" that's posted on the front side.

The "Little Bitties" have been such a BIG hit, that I decided to "Puff" them up a little bit and add them to the "Positive Notes" family. What do you think?

Inspired...Even In My Sleep

I’m big on encouragement, inspiration and motivation. And when I don’t have the right words to say, I find that God’s Word is always best. Why, you ask. Because it’s true. It will never fall to the ground void – meaning it will always accomplish what it says it will. It’s RIGHT. It’s GOOD. It endures forever and ever.

I’m a dreamer and I’m convinced that if I can conceive it in my mind and believe it in my heart, then my dream will manifest at the proper time. Sometimes all a dreamer needs is a little push…that can come from you. Sometimes the dreamer needs only 1 person to believe in their dream…that’s you. Sometimes all they need is 1 encourager, 1 motivator, just one…that’s you. Become a dream-builder. Believe in your dreams and others’ dreams.

Encouragement is simply a part of who I am. It’s almost like an additional limb attached to my body. I use it to stand on and I use it to reach out with.

I made this sweet little T-Shirt pillow full of dream-inspiring thoughts. Its purpose is to inspire me even as I sleep and rest my mind through the night. And what better way to end the day than to pray a sweet little prayer to the Dream-Giver, that’s God. I chose the prayer that I learned as a little girl: “Now I lay me down to sleep…”

I have proof that your dreams can be fulfilled... => "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). There's your proof and He has strengthened me to walk out my dreams. Now, lets make that scripture more personal. State your name in the place of "I" and make your dreams come alive.

I believe in my dreams and I believe in yours, too.

Be encouraged and follow your dreams.

"New Chick" on the Block

As you all know, I don't mind sharing the spotlight with my fellow crafty chicks. Today I'd like to introduce the "new chick" on the block. She's also our newest guest in the spotlight. Who is she????? Drum roll please........ Let's give a warm welcome to "Barnyard of the Tragically Hip". Yep, that's right.

"Barnyard of the Tragically Hip came about when I made the big move from city life to farm dweller. My purpose in moving to the country was to search for stillness. Not the stillness of ‘ok-the-tv's-turned-off-now-what’, but the richness of a silence alive with possibilities. Silence is kinetic - moving, searching for thought. It is filled with wisdom and learning. But sitting on my porch looking out at the woods, preparing to do some serious pondering I found I was awash in the concert of nature. Birds. Bugs. Leaves applauding the wind. And chickens. And goats.

Since these creatures were so intent on their barnyard business I moved my old wooden bench outside to the yard and watched to see what was so important in their little barnyard world. To my surprise I found the chicken/duck/donkey/goat world to be very like my own. My little creatures were the same as me, worried about the same things I worry about. There was angst, hunger, passion, fear, joy, sadness, distress, curiosity and at times, arrogance. This was a whole new universe I was discovering. The barnyard was full of situations and moral dilemmas that were totally familiar to me.

I am a cartoonist, which means I am an artist with a short attention span, so the natural progression of things lead to my chronicling their lives for the world. Be warned, you may find your reflection in my little cartoons – believe me, it’s not intentional, but surely inevitable. Cartoons are updated Mondays and Thursdays."

Get a load of this...my husband, "Mr. Paper-Crafts Chick", is the sweetest in the whole wide world. Not only does he attend crafts shows with me, but he sells my products like crazy. He also converted the dining room into my special craft space with matching storage and everything. He even lets me play with my paper-crafts in my paper world without interruption. His latest big thing FOR ME...the "Paper-Crafts Chick" personalized sign. He sealed this sweet little surprise with a cute bow and delivered it yesterday. I'm so excited. Where will I put it? Will I hang it or keep it on my work table? I'm so stoked. Isn't it the cutest? I feel like I'm official now...like I have a birth certificate with my name on it: Paper-Crafts Chick. I am officially signed, sealed and delivered.

I'm Baaaaack and just in time for Valentine's Day! Wanna do something different this year for V-Day? Need a break from the flowers, chocolates, dinner...well maybe not the dinner. Here's a change - try a new recipe. I created a recipe card over at Smilebox (it's free, fun and easy) and wanted to share with you. Why not bake some cookies with your honey or your kids this Valentines' Day! I like to change it up every now & then and thought this would be a fun idea. BTW: This is one of my favorite cookies (until the annual Girl Scout cookie sale - I can't resist 'em). I tried the recipe and it is a WINNER. Go for it. Rosette Christmas Tree - won "Best In Show" Award :o)

I've been planning this "big project" for the past 3 weeks now. I say "planning", but it was more like procrastination, because I was actually a bit nervous about this one, since I've NEVER done anything like this before. I had no clue how to make a rosette. Well, I finally found the courage and the time (in the same day) to jump into it head first, and just go for it. So, I went for it and here's what happened.

It's a rosette Christmas tree. Yaaaaay! It actually worked. I did it and it's beautiful. Why was I so afraid? I guess I wasn't too sure how it would work out, but turns out it was fun and very relaxing. I even created my own little tree-topper with jolly old St. Nick and the Gingerbread Man. I gotta admit - I had fun with this one.

I simply cut and scored the decorative paper using my super-duper paper trimmer and scoring tool (scored at every 1/2 inch). Then, I accordian folded the paper and attached the ends to make each rosette. The Christmas tree is composed of pages from the "Happy Holiday" paper pack by K & Company as well as "Jolly Holidays" by Doodlebug Design.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, how lovely are your Rosettes. LoL!

Wow! My tree was voted "Best In Show" over at LambAround blog.

Christmas Gifts...with a Twist

This Christmas season I'll be sending out a different set of gifts to friends and family. Normally, I make a list, run to a couple of stores to shop and pick-up everyone's gift, BUT this year things are going to be different. I have found the perfect gift that will fit everyone on my list; from the youngest to the oldest, the smallest to the biggest, the pickiest to the most simple. My gift to everyone this year will be.......yes, you guessed it. GIFT CARDS! Yes, gift cards are perfect...they're the right size, the right color, the right fit. They're just right. This way all of my recipients get to pick exactly what they want or need.

Now, of course I can't give them just a gift card. How lame would that be (LoL!)? You know there has to be some type of packaging or holder, right? So, here's my latest paper-craft project:

I made this cute little gift card holder to fit all the gift cards that I plan to send out. The snowflakes and the reindeer scream CHRISTMAS!!! As time gets closer, I'll make more with different designs, but this was my first shot at it and I gotta say, this one is a winner. What do ya think?

Sour Cream Packet Replica - Tutorial

How cute is this! I remember getting these little sour cream packets from Wendy's (whenever I order a baked potato). I thought this would be a great idea for quick and simple gift ideas. Clearly, we won't be filling the package with sour cream. You can simply add anything that will fit. I'm going to add different candy and give in addition to gifts throughout the holiday season. On my trial run, I filled the replica packet with sweet, little, love notes and gave to "Mr. Paper-Crafts Chick" and he loved it. :o)

What you'll need:

scissors/paper-trimmer
paper crimper
double sided adhesive/tape or glue
cardstock

Here's how I did it:

1. Start with cardstock cut to 5.5" x 6" (you can go smaller if you'd like).

2. Add a double-sided adhesive to 1 of the short sides of the paper.

3. Then repeat on the 2 longer sides. Next, roll the paper (from left to right) to make a tube.

4. Squeeze the tube closed on one end (one of the ends w/ the adhesive). Use a paper crimper and crimp the end to create that classic sour cream packet look.

5. Fill the container with candy or knick-knacks. Then, squeeze the other end closed (but, in the opposite direction). Finally use the paper crimper again to create the crimped look along the edge.

...and there ya go. You did it!

Christmas Notepad & Tutorial

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with this cute little notepad I just made. I was feeling crafty today and wanted to play in my craft room and here's what I came up with...

I had this cute paper from last year's Christmas Card batch and the ribbon was used to wrap one of my gifts from a previous year. Talk about recycling - LoL!

This notepad is also getting a lot of buzz - thanks to Stephanie over at "Under the Table and Dreaming" blog who featured my creation on the Sunday Showcase.

Now let's get to crafting...

What you'll need:

cardstock
ribbon
paper
scoring tool
rubber cement
binder clips
paper trimmer/scissors
ruler
double-sided adhesive/glue

So, let me tell/show ya how I made the notepad and the cover:

1. I started out with 10 - 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper that I cut in half (straight down the middle), then turned those same sheets 90 degrees and cut down the middle again. You should end up with 4 small sheets per cut page for a total of 40 sheets. They'll each measure 4.25 x 5.5.

2. Gather those 40 sheets and stack them evenly. Then, using the brush included, apply your rubber cement evenly across 1 edge of the stacked sheets. This will create the "spine" of the notepad and allow you to tear away sheets 1 by 1.

(available at your local craft store)

3. Use something heavy to apply pressure as the rubber cement dries. I chose to use these handy little binder clips - they'll keep the sheets together as the cemented edge dries. Be sure to give it at least 12-24 hours to dry, then remove clips.

4. Choose a decorative cardstock and cut it to 8 and 3/4" x 5 and 9/16". Then, score the cardstock at 4 and 3/8" and again at 4 and 1/2". Fold at the scored lines. Apply a double-sided adhesive to the back side/last page of the notepad and place inside of the cardstock cover (rubber cemented edge should be against the scored/spine of the cover. Pick your favorite ribbon and cut to about 24".

5. Wrap ribbon and tie. VOILA! There you have it. Use your notepad for to-do-lists, grocery list or even Christmas gift list.

Wind-down Wednesday

Today is known by most people as "hump-day". It's the day that puts us half-way through the work week and almost to the long-awaited weekend. Well, I need a weekend-day in the middle of the week. Anybody else have this need? To help satisfy this necessity I've decided to create my own little special 1-day weekend...on Wednesday. From now on, I plan to make every Wednesday my "Wind-down Wednesday". Have you ever felt the need to getaway from EVERYTHING and EVERYONE? Then, you need a mid-week break. We're all entitled to some "me-time". Aren't we? Aren't you? Why certainly!

I kept it simple today. Afterall, this is my 1st weekend day in the middle of the week - LOL!. After a full day of work, I realized that cooking would go against anything related to winding down, so I decided to let my personal chef at Quizno's (LoL!) make my dinner. My toasted sandwich was delish! YUM!!! Having my hair done was long over due, so I treated myself to a sweet salon visit and I left the salon looking prettiful! (Yes, that's my new word - prettiful). It was nice to be pampered by someone else's hands today. Wow, I owed it to myself! I'm planning to keep this up and make it a weekly thing.

Got any suggestions on how I'll wind-down next Wednesday? How do you wind-down after a long day?

Tailor Made

Wanna read about my latest paper-crafts? Well, I got something even better. Today’s post is more about God’s craft and less about mine.

God, the Perfect Tailor, Who is Suited to Meet Your Needs

I had a sweet little conversation this morning with God – riding through the mountains, enjoying God’s glory, the new fall foliage, the drive by the lake. Then I realized that God satisfies our wants by meeting our needs.

Have you ever asked God for something specific? And when He answered your prayer or request, you realized that He had tailored your want to fit your need? For example, you ask God for A+B and inturn He gives you A-B or A+B+C. That’s because He has to tailor or modify or customize (yeah, I like customize better) your desire to fit your specific need. It’s like suit shopping in the men’s department. When you pop in the store, they have the basic suit, but it must be tailored in order to fit your needs: your chest size, height, arm length, wing span, etc. The seamstress or tailor will measure each element that requires any adjustment, however, without these necessary modifications the suit will fit improperly. In other words there’s no perfect fit and it’s just not right for you. The good thing is God, our tailor, already has our measurements, therefore, He knows what needs to be altered, removed and/or added for you. Here's the proof:

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." (Psalm 139: 13-14).

"O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me" (Psalm 139: 1-5).

Our Father is a God of perfection, which means He will always tailor your wants to perfectly fit your needs. He is the perfect tailor – suited for your needs.

"And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

God fills our underlying needs that are buried in our wants.

Go ahead and confess to God what you need or what you think you want, then wait for His response... :o)

...Bet you're wondering where I've been. Well, let me just say that I didn't forget about my blog-fam. It's been a long, busy, eventful and EXCITING week for me. Where can I start? While in the process of preparing for a large weekend Marketplace, I was informed that a BIG company was interested in hiring me. Who, me? Yes, me. Within hours of the meeting with the decision-makers, I received the phone call that I was the winner....the winner of the job.

And ALSO (told ya, it was a busy week), I received a call from a Christian bookstore that officially wants to carry my products. So, I have received my FIRST (and definitely not my last) wholesale order for candles and "little bitty" Positive Notes. WooooHooooo! Told ya it was "busy, eventful and EXCITING".

So, who could've setup all of these good things for me? I'll give you a hint... Nahhh, I'll just tell ya. It was nobody, but the Lord. I prayed for a few things, then got in position and HE did the work. How good it is to be loved, cared for, supported, favored, shown mercy, given grace, saved, protected and blessed by God. I owe it all to him!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory… Ephesians 3:20-21 kjv

Do you have that "power" working in you? The anwer is yes. The power is faith and we all have a mustard seed of it. Are you expecting something from God? I know I am! :o)

I enjoy making inspirational gifts: I hand-pour soy candles and hand-craft journals, notepads and greeting cards. And I love what I do! The most exciting part is to watch the transformation of my raw materials - sheets of paper, embellishments, o-wire, glue and ink, somehow become journals and more. In additon to my crafts, I enjoy encouraging and motivating others with the Word of God. So, I figured, why not combine the two and incorporate the mighty Word of God with products that uplift, encourage and inspire. In my blog, you'll find posts that contain items that I've created and that are actually in my shop. You'll also find random d.i.y. crafts that I've tackled, and other creations that I've made just for myself. There are other days when there may be only an encouraging "Word" posted. My goal is to encourage you and share my love for God, His Word and paper-crafts with you... here, in my blog.

A Busy Bee...with Renewed Strength

I have been a BUSY BEE for the past several weeks.

Here's why...

Recently, I started participating as a vendor in women's and church conferences, art festivals, showcases and craft shows. And (to God be the glory!) my products have been flying off the shelves and this has kept me busy. I have no complaints becuase this is what every small, craft, business owner wants: to be in demand, for someone to be as much in love with their creations as they are and for their products to sell like crazy. I'm excited beyond words and my craft room is a witness to all of the products that have been made in the last 24 hours. I've mixed, wicked, poured, labeled and boxed my candles; cut, scored, glued, taped and packaged my "little bitty" Positive Notes; and I've wired, printed, labeled and cinched my journals. As a result, I've officially given myself the title "Busy Bee". This weekend won't be any different than the others. I'll have all of my goods setup at a church conference to spread the Gospel. And what cute little gifts they make.

This one "lifted" me the other day. Just as I was about to box this candle I took a look at the printed scripture. These words were like food to my soul and very good for my spiritual appetite. This gave me, the BUSY BEE, strength.

Just For Me

I'm so excited! I finally made something for MYSELF! I'm always crafting journals, sticky pad holders and even candles for my shop, but what about me? I never make anything that's just...for...me. So, today I did it. I finally made a small little treat for myself. Have a look see and tell me what ya think...

I created this little journal for my daily to-do list, which can sometimes be a bit lengthy. My tasks are never mind-boggling things. It's just that I have days where I have a million little things to do. Also, it helps me to clear my mind, because if it's written down I won't spend the entire day trying to remember it and I'll NEVER forget to do it. I used some of my scrap paper to help create a decorative look. Then, I placed a clear, plastic cover on top of that (to protect the pretty paper). I actually created the inside journal sheets by printing the lines with my printer, then cutting them all with my paper trimmer. I made the monogrammed "M" with my old faithful Slice machine (man, I luv that little thingy). Then I topped it off with the pearlescent flower (on top of the plastic cover). Of course, I can't forget about my Cinch that I used to bind it all together. And there ya go. My own little journal. All for me. Yippppeeee!

Check out the cute little butterfly pen. Doesn't it just make you wanna write something? My sweet hubby bought that for me. He's too sweet.

New Crafting Tool

Ok, so what crafter doesn't like new tools??!?!! There isn't one. Not only did I make something, I BOUGHT something, too! I went out the other day and finally got the Martha Sterwart scoring tool. I'd been scoring my cards and other products in a retarded way (let's just say my previous bone folder was a stylus from an old PDA...like I said... retarded), but it worked. But, no more of that. I have a real score board and guess what, it even makes envelopes, too. My favorite part: the score lines are every 1/8". Yaaaaay! I won't have to pick my projects up and move them around with the frequency of the lines on the board. I scored big with this one. Well, I'm off to create a new project. One that I can use my new tool with.

Ha-ha-ha-choo! Sniff-Sniff, Cough-Cough. Noooo!

Hi everyone! I'm back from my nice, short, but fun staycation. However, I returned with something that I wasn't looking for - a cough, a sneeze and a stuffy nose. Noooo! Well, I guess the good news is - it happened after the staycation. So, for the past 2 days I've been on meds and everyone's favorite - the vitamin C packed OJ (funny how it only taste good to me when I'm sick, that's weird).

Being sick hasn't been all that bad. I've been productive (but slow) and I accomplished a lot (just didn't feel well while doing it). All in all, I stayed on track and work got done (thank God for helping do that)! So let me show ya what I mustered up the energy to do.

Gift Set

I made a few Positive Notes journals and a slew of "little bitty" Positive Notes , then created gifts sets for the upcoming holiday season. After that, I had another glass of OJ and meds, then I rested and took a nap. Being sick is an energy zapper. After regaining some energry, I moved on to making my candles. The Scent of Heaven scripture candles (scents include: vanilla, sun-dried linen, bird-of-paradise, peppermint eucalyptus, cotton candy and more). Here's a sneek-peek of some of the soy candles I poured this week.

A New Package and a Little "Help"

I've just finished up a pretty BIG craft show and a few BIG sales. Whew! It was all worth it because the "little bitty" Positive Notes that I debuted on my blog a few weeks ago are a hit. So, I'm very excited. I only planned to take a handful to the show to sell...you know... just introduce them to see how the buyers would respond. Even my husband likes them...so much so that he was the one that told me to double the amount that I took to sale. Thank God I listened to him because I only had 4 left at the end of the day (and I started out with a whole lot more than that). So, here's the BIG NEWS, they're now available on my site, The Scent of Heaven Candle Co. and they will also be available in a few local Christian bookstores pretty soon. This is GREAT NEWS to me. I don't think I've allowed it all to sink it just yet, but I am super-duper happy! :o) My dreams are becoming a reality!

Now, onto my reward: a much needed staycation.

A little "Help"...on my staycation

So, while I'm enjoying my staycation, I decided to pick up a book and go far, far away on whatever journey the book takes me. I picked up Kathryn Stockett's, much talked about book, "The Help". I've been reading for about a week and it's good (to say the least). It's filled with the vivid, details that I crave while reading and I can't put it down. Has anyone else read this book yet?

How Far Will You Run?

This is my dream...

Well, I've been running this race for about 3 years now...chasing my dream of building The Scent of Heaven Candle Co., a powerful, candle and paper goods boutique committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Somedays I run nonstop. Going, going, going, producing, selling, collecting. Then, there are other days where I can barely muster up the energy to place one foot in front of the other. But here's the good news: "the race is not given to the swift or to the strong" (Ecclesiastes 9:11). In other words, God doesn't issue rewards, medals or trophies based on how fast we run. He's more concerned with our endurance and ability to simply stay on the couse and run the race. I learned as a kid that quitters never win and winners never quit. That's why I "press toward the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:14) while "laying aside every weight that so easily ensnares me and I run with patience the race that is set before me" (Hebrews 12:1) while putting my hope in Jesus Christ. So, how far will you run? Will you continue to run when the going gets tough or when dream-crushers discourage you? Or will you "watch in hope for the LORD and wait for God" (Micah 7:7)? How far are you willing to run while chasing your dream? I challenge you to run on and find out what your prize will be. Run on and see what God is capable of doing with your dream. Remember, "all things are possible with God" (Mark 10:27). So, have a little faith in your dream and you'll be surprised at how far you'll run to obtain it.

"Little Bitty Positive Notes"

Happy Monday to you! It's a new week and I've completed a new project. After gathering my supplies over the weekend I decided that I'd get started.

INTRODUCING.....

"Little Bitty Positive Notes"! They're a miniature version of my "Positive Notes" journals, but with a twist. To be more specific "Little Bitty Positive Notes" are hand-crafted, sticky note and pen holders that include “Positive Notes” from scriptures to build you up”.

Sometimes you don't need to or even want to carry a large journal with you. There are times when a "little bitty" note pad will suffice. These little pads are 3"x3" and small enough to slide in your pocket, your bible bag or slip in your purse. They even have a pen attached, which means you no longer have to search for or borrow anyone else's. The best part is the encouraging scripture (which I refer to as the "Positive Note") that's posted on the the front cover. It's purpose is to remind you of God's promises and give you hope throughout the day.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate.

I love these little things, they're just the cutest and they're actually useful. I keep 1 in my purse to jot down a quick note, phone number, grocery list or whatever I'm needing to write. So, I know these will come in handy for you for many reasons. Not to mention its a great gift idea.

Chicken Wings and A Baby Chick...from a Paper-Crafts Chick?

Chicken Wings...

I'm a chicken when it comes to frying chicken, so I bake instead of frying. I don't claim to be a master chef or anything close to it. Matter of fact, if I had my way I'd hire a personal chef and order take-out on his/her days off. Wait! I do have a chef...a live in chef...he's my super-husband. Well, despite his awesome cooking ability and willingness to do so, I usually end up cooking just because of our schedules. So, here's my latest creation - chicken wings. Oh my goodness, they were so pretty (lol) and the taste was simply marvelous. I don't mean to toot my own horn (beep, beep!), but I topped the chef on this day. Check out these pretty wings...

It was a total fluke! And everytime I cook it's trial and error, but this trial didn't produce any errors. I didn't plan this, but here's what I did: I baked them for about 45mins on 350, then turned up the heat to 450 for about 20mins to achieve the crispiness and gold tone (I never fry because I'm afraid of being popped by the grease, and I don't feel too bad since baking is a healthier alternative). Once they were done, I sprinkled them with a Ranch seasoning pack. DELISH!

A Baby Chick...

Now, meet the baby chick. I met this little guy during one of my paper shopping sprees. Just paper..luv it. I incorporated this little chick in the design of my journals that I previewed earlier. It's a part of my "Positive Notes" line of inspirational journals. I created this one using The Cinch binding tool. If you've tried this tool, then you already know how much fun I had.

Here's the hand-crafted, whimsical journal that includes “Positive Notes” from scriptures to build you up. It was created with premium recycled papers. The book board is covered with paper designed by TPC Studio's Woodland Whimsy collection. Journal Size: 5" x 7"; 80 lined pages.

I simply printed the inner sheets with my printer and selected some of my favorite scriptures to include in the journal.

...and it reads: A reminder from God: I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. (Jeremiah 29:11 msg)

Stick 'em Up!

I had a craving for a fun, yet quick project. I'd been wanting to tackle this one for some time and figured what better time than now...since I was in the mood to make something...anything...just had to make something.

Check out these fun glass tile magnets that I made. I used some of my own scrap paper to make the pink & grey cherry blossom and purple & white swirls magnet. The other 3 were created with free printables from PaperGlitter's Mod Collage. I'm looking forward to using these guys. I plan to stick 'em up wherever I can to hold small papers and other small items (these will not be fridge magnets...too cute, so they will only be used in my craft room, lol).

What I used:

clear glass tiles (7/8")
decorative paper
magnets
epoxy glue
be sure to cover your work area to protect from any messy glue spills.

What I did:

cut paper in the shape of a square to make sure it fits the glass tile.
add epoxy glue to flat side of tile
press tile firmly to your paper to get rid of air bubbles
flip the tile over, add a thin layer of epoxy glue to back side to seal paper for longevity
add magnet to back of tile
allow to dry overnight
Stick 'em up somewhere!

What's In Your Craft Room? {meet the inhabitants of mine}

Here's my Slice along with a few design cards and the 12 x 12 glass cutting mat. I use the mat outside of Slice projects to protect my table, catch glue, glitter, embossing powder, etc.

My newest toy! Recently, I started creating Positive Notes journals with the Cinch. I use it to punch holes in my journal paper, thread the wire and "cinch" the journal together. I even have the wire cutters to remove any excess wire from the journal.

I can't forget about my embossing tool. I love to stamp with colorful ink, add embossing powder, then use my embossing tool to raise that image...Instant gratification!

Not only am I in love with paper and stationery, I also love paper and stationery with straight lines and edges. Yes, I'm a neat freak in addition to being a "Paper-Crafts Chick". Here's my 12 x 12 paper trimmer that allows me to achieve my own level of neatness and straighness. :o)

I have a slight addiction to decorative boxes and baskets, too. This allows me to store finished projects atop my work table and maintain organization.

I also keep a cute notebook handy to jot down any quick notes, ideas or project plans. And what crafter could make it without a ruler, scissors, craft knife or glue? I sure couldn't.

While I have an overhead light, I also choose to keep my 3-light lamp lit. It

gives me a brighter work area, so that I don't miss any flaws or create any.

Here's my trusted friend, Mr. B (short for Mr. Bunny). He keeps me

company during my craft time and never interrupts. What a great friend!

My Sliced Up Sweet Nothings!

You're familiar with the Slice design cutter by Making Memories, right? It's a great cutting tool. I use it to make my Sweet Nothings inspirational greeting cards and other fun things. Well, I won one of the new design cards - Words & Expressions Family. I made a short entry a couple of weeks ago telling of how I got the Slice and how I would use the new design card. Take a look-see at my winning post:
